Being able to make & receive calls would also be a bonus, but not super critical. From nosing about it doesn't look like there's a way to natively send/receive SMS messages so I guess I'm going to need a separate program/app for that. The adapter I'm using is an Ericsson F3507g which after installing the drivers integrates nicely with Win10's network management settings so no additional software was required for basic internet connectivity.
